Recap: 10.10.23 NuHart Community Meeting

On October 10, 2023 North Brooklyn Neighbors hosted a community meeting and were joined by the offices of Assembly Member Emily Gallagher, State Senator Kristen Gonzalez, Council Member Lincoln Restler, Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez, as well as the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), the New York State Department of Health (DOH) and Madison Realty Capital (MRC).

After introductions by NBN and the elected officials, there was a presentation from Madison Realty Capital (~4:12). The presentation outlined that the tent will be moving the second portion of the Superfund site and remediation of on-site soil is still expected to be completed by the end of 2023.

The Q&A portion of the meeting began (~10:20) and continues for the remainder of the meeting. Topics covered include:

• Weekend/after hours work
• Air monitoring
• A discussion on the cleanup of contaminants under the sidewalk/street
• Continued monitoring
• Garbage
