Note from the Co-Chairs

Hello Friends and Neighbors,

We wanted to take a moment in today’s newsletter to give a heartfelt thank you to outgoing North Brooklyn Neighbors Executive Director Anthony Buissereth for his nearly four years of leadership. With his guidance, we’ve been able to expand our programming to focus on air and soil quality in our community, keeping our neighbors informed not just about environmental health–but also the value of active community engagement through voter registration drives, policy forums and so much more. We are also grateful for his work ushering us through the merger of NAG and GWAPP to form North Brooklyn Neighbors, and the development of ELI–the Environmental Legacy & Improvements map. He has led NBN through the hardest days of a global pandemic while offering resources to our neighbors like the ‘Essentially Open’ map of local businesses. We truly thank you, Anthony, and wish you the best in your next role and future endeavors.

To ensure a smooth transition, current Co-Chair Lisa Bloodgood will be stepping off of the board temporarily to assume the role of Interim Executive Director. In this role, Lisa will guide the day-to-day operations of NBN through this transition while we continue our existing programming, and search for a new Executive Director. We are thrilled that Lisa has offered her years of experience and expertise to fill this role.

Although we are sad to see Anthony go, we are excited about NBN’s bright future. We have work to do, to be sure, but with neighbors like you, and in a community like ours, we know we will be supported. We will be starting a search for a new executive director immediately. If you know of any great candidates, keep an eye out for the forthcoming job description and send it their way!

Thank you for your on-going trust in our work. If you are able to donate at this time, we’d greatly appreciate your support.

Your neighbors,
Nicole & Lisa
