Soil Testing and Compost Giveback

North Brooklyn Neighbors is teaming up with the North Brooklyn Mutual Aid at the McCarren Park Demonstration Garden for a fun-filled event.

We will be using our new XRF machine to offer free soil testing. Bring a sample of your soil in a clear, plastic sandwich bag with about 2 cups of soil. We will use our machine to test the heavy metal (i.e. lead) content of your soil and results will be available immediately. Information on safely dealing with high levels of lead in soil will be available in English, Polish, and Spanish.

Stop by to collect up to three 40-lb bag of compost made from NYC food scraps and yard waste. Register in advance for compost pickup, only one sign-up per household please.
