Meeker CAG Meeting

The Meeker Avenue Plume Community Advisory Group (CAG) will hold a meeting on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. to learn about the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) process for assessing human health and ecological risks as well as the results of recent risk assessments conducted for the Meeker Avenue Plume Superfund site. At this meeting, you can  learn about the risks, share your concerns and get answers to your questions about the site.

What is the Meeker Avenue Plume?
The EPA has listed the Meeker Avenue Plume as a Superfund site, meaning it is a heavily contaminated area slated for cleanup. The soil and groundwater at the Meeker Avenue Plume site are contaminated with chemicals harmful to human and environmental health.

Where is the Meeker Avenue Plume?
The area under investigation is in the Greenpoint/East Williamsburg area and spans several city blocks.

What is a Community Advisory Group (CAG)?
A CAG’s purpose is to provide a public forum for community members to present and discuss their needs and concerns related to the Superfund decision-making process.
