Recap: River Street Community Meeting

Over 100 community members attended a meeting on February 13th at The Williamsburg Hotel about Two Tree Management’s proposed River Street Master Plan, a development plan for two waterfront parcels formerly owned by Con Edison.

The plan which includes two residential rental towers and a waterfront park, requires a rezoning. Rezonings of this nature must enter a structured review process, known as Uniform Land Use Review Procedure (ULURP), to gain approval.

During the meeting, Mark Torrey of the Center for Urban Pedagogy led a informational presentation on ULURP. He explained the role of ULURP, key stakeholders, required timelines, and pressure points to leverage community input. The CUP presentation was followed a brief walk through of the proposed project and the area’s most recent neighborhood rezoning. Finally, attendees participated in themed break out groups to discuss questions and concerns about the project that will be posed with the developer.

Questions raised at the meeting can be viewed below. You are invited to submit additional questions here to be included.
