2021 Fundraiser & Party

On Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Biba Williamsburg, NBN held our 2021 Fundraiser & Party to celebrate neighborhood resilience, honor community heroes, and party in support of an equitable recovery! The vaccination-only event was the organization’s first in-person, public gathering since the start of the pandemic.

We honored:

• Crest Hardware with the 2021 Business Hero Award in recognition of its longstanding commitment to meeting essential needs of the community.
• The Family of Marsha P. Johnson, STARR & Stop the Plastic Park the 2021 Special Citation for their collective advocacy and work to ensure the park is a fitting honor to Marsha P. Johnson.
• Los Sures Comida Program with the 2021 Neighborhood Champion Award in recognition of its efforts to reduce food insecurity for tens of thousands of our neighbors.
• North Brooklyn Mutual Aid with the 2021 Neighborhood Champion Award in recognition of the hundreds of volunteers who dedicated thousands of hours to help their neighbors survive and thrive.
• NYU CIEH Community Engagement Core with the 2021 Community Ally Award in recognition of its demonstrated commitment to building lasting, valuable community-academic partnerships.

Proceeds from the evening will benefit NBN’s mission to advance community-based solutions on issues of public space and the environment – through activism, education, and collaboration – to create a more just, healthy, and safe place to live and work.
